Our Approach to Social Studies
Social studies is a discipline that examines the human and societal aspects of the world and life. It encompasses the pluralistic nature of international communities and nations, the relationships between local and global issues, historical accumulations from the past to the present, and more. When the social studies course at school asks students questions like “What is history?”, “What is geography?”, and “What is societal structure?”, these questions guide students toward gaining a broader understanding of “humanity.” The course provides various experiences aimed at fostering students' awareness of local and global events through concepts such as rights, responsibilities, justice, equality, compromise, and conflict. It emphasizes the importance of knowing history to understand the present, developing awareness of the influence of geography on countries and individuals, and uncovering
the connection between being a global citizen and being an active citizen. The program aims to cultivate individuals who are sensitive to different cultural perspectives, who understand the responsibility of preserving and passing on cultural heritage from the past to future generations.
