TARIK AKAN was born in Istanbul in 1949. He grew up in Anatolia because of his father's duty. When his father retired from the colonel, he worked as a manager in the wedding hall and as a lifeguard at Ataköy Beach to support the house. While studying mechanical engineering at Yıldız Technical University, he worked as a paper dealer during the day and went to the university at night. He entered the contest opened by Ses magazine in 1971 with the hope that "even if I come in third, I will get five thousand liras" and he was selected first and started to act in films. Meanwhile, he studied journalism. Ertem Eğilmez learned a lot about film technique from Vasıf Öngören about acting. Initially, he was sought after for romantic junior roles; During this period, he also took part in light comedies. Starting from the second half of the 1970s, he acted in quality films of directors such as Şerif Gören, Atıf Yılmaz, Yavuz Özkan and Zeki Ökten, where social problems were dominant. These include Maden (1978), Pehlivan (1984), Sürü (1978), Adak (1979), Yol (1982), Solutions (1993), Yolcu (1993), September Storm (1999), Dreaming Lessons
(1999), My Rose (2003). Tarık Akan, who won the Best Actor Award four times at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, was awarded the Special Jury Award at the 1985 Berlin Film Festival for his play in Pehlivan. In 1991, he opened Bakırköy Secondary School, of which he was once a student, under the name of Taş Private Primary and Secondary School Later, the name of the institution was changed to Private Taş Primary Education Institutions with the inclusion of the secondary school. In 1992, he was elected as the president of the Contemporary Cinema Artists Association. He played in two TV series called The Secret of the Stones and The Pile of Antiques. For a long time, he worked as an educator besides his cinema studies. Mom I Have Lice on My Head, her first and only book. Tarık Akan passed away in 2016.
